The University of Missouri-Columbia had their fall recruitment on August 15th through 20th this year. There were 1552 girls that went through recruitment, and 1190 girls pledged into a house. Each house required a quota of 71 new members. Gamma Phi Beta met quota and also pledged an additional 5 COB members, 76 new members total. Eleven of these new members are legacies. Our house now has a total of 315 members, 34 of these being legacies.
Bid Day 2016
Sunday, August 21st, was Bid Day, the day Gamma Phi Beta had been waiting for! After two weeks of preparation, our members were able to celebrate this long awaited day. We were ecstatic to welcome all of our amazing new members and to give them a taste of the best four years of their life. Our new members were welcomed with warm arms by our seniors on Faurot Field while they opened their Bid Day cards. The seniors then showed them their way through Greek Town to Gamma Phi Beta where everyone anxiously waited to meet them. This year our bid day was carnival themed, and we were able to decorate all around and throughout the house with banners, balloons, and much more! Throughout the afternoon, all of our members enjoyed eating barbecue, dancing to the DJs music, taking pictures, and getting to know their new sisters. While recruitment is an exhausting two weeks for everyone involved, the Alpha Delta members felt that this year was especially rewarding, and can’t wait for all the fun that is still to come!
GPA for spring semester
All-chapter GPA 3.28
All-women's GPA 3.25
All-sorority GPA 3.36
From June 22-25, 2016, Gamma Phi Beta "Made It's Mark" as sisters from all across the country gathered in Atlanta, Georgia, to conduct sorority business, enhance leadership skills, celebrate our ritual and embrace our sisterhood. Six Alpha Delta's attended the 77th International Convention and had a blast!
"We had so much fun at the Coca Cola Factory during convention! We celebrated the women who have been to five or more conventions. Meeting these amazing women is so inspiring. They truly love Gamma Phi Beta and it encourages us to strive to make the Alpha Delta chapter the best that is can be!"
On April 5, our lovely scholarship committee hosted a dinner in honor of every member that has earned a 3.75 GPA or significantly increased their GPA by over a 1.0 this past semester. We celebrated our grades with a photo booth, special prizes, and a s'mores bar. Yum!
On April 10th, we had a great time bowling on our leadership retreat!
On Thursday, February 11, 2016 our chapter held a Valentine's Day Sisterhood Event in our chapter house basement. We all had a blast gathering to make Valentine's Day cards for the girls who participate in Girls on the Run, our local and national philanthropy. The night was full of sisterly bonding as we ate cookies and made cards. It was a fun way to hang out with our sisters while helping build strong girls in every way possible. On Saturday, January 23, 2016 our executive team attended a fun retreat to set goals for the 2016-2017 term as well as discussing the direction of our chapter with our Regional Coordinator and Sorority Director of Collegiate Resources. We established semester and year goals and even had some fun bonding time with our chapter advisors Danielle Roden and Megan Valli Minnick. It was great day had by all!
